    Sergeant (later 2nd Lieutenant), 37th Regiment, Company F, North Carolina Infantry 
    • He enlisted as a Sergeant and was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant February 1862. He was mortally wounded in the head at the Battle of Hanover Courthouse, Virginia on May 27, 1862 and died of these wounds May 31, 1863 at Richmond, Virginia. His body was returned home for burial.
