    • "Mr. A. M. Rich Dead.
Mr. A. M. Rich, a well known farmer living six or seven miles north of Bainbridge, died at his home Sunday after an illness of several months.

Mr. Rich had been complaining for several months, with a complication of troubles. On Wednesday of last week however, he was attacked with acute indigestion, which was the immediate cause of his death.

Mr. Rich was nearly 69 years of age at the time of his death and was one of the most highly respected citizens of the community.

Mr. Rich was an Ex-Confederate soldier. He was one among the large number of young men who enlisted from Decatur county in the early stages of the war. He remained at the front till the end of the terrible struggle. It was said of him that he was as brave and true to the cause of the South as any soldier who ever shouldered arms for the cause of the Confederacy. It is said further of him, that during the whole time of his service in the war not an act did he commit that would bring a thing against him as a man. In this, as well as his bravery, he won the confidence of both, officers and men. His death is the removal of another one of the true sons of the South who suffered so much for the Lost Cause.

Returning from the fields of carnage and suffering, he like the thousands of other loyal sons, set to work to make an honest living and build up a country that had been devastated by the ravages of a cruel war. In his private life Mr. Rich was the neighbor who could be depended upon at any time to do his part in the help of relieveing the suffering, or the advancement of any good cause in the community.

Mr. Rich had been married twice, his first wife having died about 25 years ago. His second wife survives him. He leaves four children, three sons and a daughter. The sons are Rev. E. W. Rich, Malachi, and Elijah Rich. The daughter is Mrs. Morgan Cloud. The children are all by his first marriage. He is also survived by two brothers and three sisters. The brothers are E. A. J. Rich of this county and Mr. Bradford Rich of Graceville, Fla. The sisters are Mrs. Sallie Wilson and Miss Jane Rich of this county, and Mrs. W. J. Parker of Winter Garden, Fla. Besides these he leaves a large number of other relatives.

A large concourse of sorrowing friends attended the funeral services conducted by Rev. P. B. Butler at Bethel church Monday. After the service the body was laid to rest in the cemetery of the church."
