Know all men by these Presents, That we, E. A. J. Rich Principal & S.S. Mann Security, Acknowledge ourselves jointly and Severally bound
unto Joel Johnson Ordinary of Said County, and his successors and
assigns, in the just and full sum of Three Hundred Dollars, to the true payment of which, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, and
the heirs and executors of us and each of us, jointly and severally, by these presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated this 30th day of Nov. 1870.
The Condition of the above Bond or Obligation is such, That
if the above bound E.A.J. Rich who is this day appointed Guardian
of the person and property of Brad Rich orphan child of
Thomas J. Rich deceased, he acknowledging of the same by his ac-
ceptance of said appointment, and of Letters of Guardianship of this date,
shall well and truly maintain, clothe and educate said Orphan according
to the Laws of this State, and shall annually make a just and true
return of all his actings and doings herein, unto the said Ordinary, and
pay over all assets that may remain in his hands when said
Guardianship shall legally terminate, then this obligation to
be void, else to remain in full force.

Whereas, R. Bradberry Rich orphan child of Thomas
Rich deceased, is possessed in his own rights of
a considerable estate, by means whereof the power
of granting the guardianship of the said Brad-
berry Rich to us is known, manifestly, to belong,
and for better securing the estate and more
ample maintenance and education of the said
minor and from the integrity confidence
reposed in you, we d hereby commit the edu-
cation, maintenance and guardianship of the
said Bradberry Rich to you, the said E.A.J.
Rich you assenting thereto, by your acceptance
of these letters: herein charging you, that you
maintain and cause to be educated the said
Bradberry Rich in such a manner as shall be
suitable to his interests and circumstances,
during his minority, and that you inquire
into and take charge of his estate, both real
and personal, and all other things to do,
which by law you ought to do, for your
said ward, of all which a true and per-
fect account you shall render to the first
term of the Court of Ordinary for said county
in every year, during your continuance in
office; and lastly, we do hereby constitute
and appoint you, the said E.A.J. Rich
guardian of the said Bradberry Rich du-
ring his minority- Given under my hand

Decatur County This Indenture made this the 16th
of September Eighteen hundred
& Seventy four between Jack Phillips & Rachel
Phillips of the state & county aforesaid of the
one part and Elijah A. J. Rich of the same
place of the other part Witnesseth that the said
Jack Phillips & Rachel Phillips for & in consid-
eration of the sum of Two hundred Dollars to them
in hand paid at & before the sealing & delivery of
these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowl-
edged hath granted bargained sold & conveyed &
doth by these presents grant bargain sell and
convey unto the said Elijah A.J. Rich his heirs
& assigns all that tract or lot of land number
four hundred fifty. Sixty five acres in the 15th dis-
trict of the county aforesaid to have & to hold said
tract or lot of land to him the said Elijah A.J. Rich
his heirs & assigns together with all & singular the
rights members & apputenances thereof to the
same in any manner belonging to his & their
own proper use & benefit & behoof forever in
Fee Simple & the said Jack Phillips & Rachel Phillips
for themselves heirs executors & administrators the said
bargained premises to the said Elijah A.J. Rich
his heirs & assigns will warrant & forever defend
the rights & title thereof against themselves and
against the claims of all other persons whomso-
ever In witness whereof the said Jack Phillips and
Rachel Phillips hath hereunto set his hand & affixed
his seal the day & year above written
